The whole point of the campaign and session is to get the young voters into the ballet boxes with the guys at #voting coining the slogan "what can you do in five seconds?" because it takes five seconds to register to vote. Proir to today Sofar Sounds put 20 pairs of tickets up for grabs, the company specialising at exhibiting musical acts of all kinds in various locations globally, from disused studios to your dads old garage if need be. While rumour has it that other guests include Rio Ferdinand presenting, Lilly Cole, Reeps One, Suli Breaks and a ultra special guest who has yet to be named. Popular band Bastille are one of those featuring performing a secret gig. There will be a number of guests all public figures who will be using their voice's to encourage primarily young people to vote. Now being in the week of the EU Referendum Vote which you can all be part of on Thursday, #Voting have put on a Session tonight - the 21st of June (7:45pm) - which will be Livestreamed from a secret venue in the Capital ahead of Thursdays Vote. Offering a alternative tribute to those dedicated to Bowie and Prince, remembering a band who had yet to achieve greatness. Frontman Chris Martin told the huge crowd "We're going to create Viola Beach's alternative future for them and let them headline Glastonbury for a song." Which adds to the artists that have paid tribute, perhaps we think this being the best putting the four piece group somewhere as young musicians they would have dreamed of performing.
Last weekend's Glastonbury headliners Coldplay showed that its not only the families that wish their memory to live on, the band covering 'Boys That Sing' with projections of the band visually and through audio. The intentions of the families being that the promising group's legacy will live on through the record, which in our opinon will no doubt be the case. The release as many are aware follows the tragic death of the group back in February, Kris Leonard (guitar and vocals), River Reeves (guitar), Tomas Lowe (bass), Jack Dakin (drums) and their manager Craig Tarry. The car that they were traveling in plummeted from a bridge in Sweden while traveling home from Where's The Music? festival. Their sound being undeniably suited for the festival circuit with feel good lyrics, fierce guitar strumming against 'Foals' like beats and melodies. The album features nine tracks (the listing can be seen bellow) that the families have taken from their past recordings, including BBC sessions and 'Swings and Waterslides' which achieved success as their first single. With likes of Huw Stephens supporting their ambition. The indie band from Warrington formed three years ago, going on to play the likes of Reading and Leeds through BBC introducing. Today the Viola Beach's self titled debut album is released by their families on the bands own record label Fuller Beans Records in memory of them.
